A Chicago Police officer has been suspended and ordered into counseling after she was found guilty of demanding free Starbucks coffee from six different stores on the North Side from 2001 to 2004, sometimes flashing her badge, displaying her gun and screaming at employees.
A Chicago Police officer has been suspended and ordered into counseling after she was found guilty of demanding free Starbucks coffee from six different stores on the North Side.Officer Barbara Nevers of the Belmont police district was suspended for more than 15 months, according to records the Chicago Police Board released Thursday.On Aug. 24, 2004, she flashed her badge to get free coffee at the Starbucks at 3358 N. Broadway, the board found.Nevers exhibited similar behavior at Starbucks stores at 2525 1/2 N. Clark, 617 W. Diversey, 1000 W. Diversey, 1700 W. Diversey and 1157 W. Wrightwood — sometimes demanding free coffee, yelling when they refused her demands and showing her weapon, the board found.On July 12, 2004 at the store at 617 W. Diversey, she took a bottle of juice without paying, the civilian disciplinary panel found.In June, five members of the police board found her guilty of retail theft, using her position for official gain, unnecessary display of a weapon, mistreatment of a person and other offenses. They voted for Nevers’ 15-month suspension and counseling.Two board members dissented, saying they would have imposed a stricter punishment, records show.
In other decisions released Thursday by the police board:
— Sgt. Nicholas M. Ortega, 46, was fired after he was found guilty of entering a bar in uniform, giving a ride to an unauthorized person in his squad car and having sex with a woman in or near the sergeants’ office in the Grand-Central police district on the Northwest Side in 2005. Coincidentally, the bar he entered was called Grand Central Station in the 5700 block of West Grand, records show.
— Officer Kevin Waters was fired after he was found guilty of threatening to slit a man’s throat in a bar in southwest suburban Merrionette Park, using a racial epithet and lying to Chicago Police Internal Affairs investigators.
— Officer Cardinal Castillo was fired after he was found guilty of striking a woman in the face and leaving profane voice mails on her answering machine in 2004 and 2005.
— Officer Robert E. Taylor Sr. was fired after he was found guilty of perjury before a judge in 2004. He was accused of being married to two women at the same time.
— Officer Joseph Battaglia was suspended for more than 15 months after he was found guilty of telling Trotter’s to Go restaurant employees in 2004 that he had confiscated “weed” and asked if they wanted some.

حدود دو ماه پیش در هوایی نسبتا سرد در گوشه ای خلوت در پارک لاله تهران در یک محیط آرام نشسته بودم که چند مامور و یک خانم به من نزدیک شدند و خانم زشت رویی که از زیر چادر لباس سبز نظامی پوشیده بود با لحن تندی به من گفت بکش پایین ! گفتم بله ؟! گفت روسریتو بکش پایین. من گفتم اینجا یک پارک عمومی و خلوته من هم آمدم تا کتاب دانشگاهی خودم ورق بزنم این مگه جرمه؟ خانم گفت: تو اینگار سرت بوی قرمه سبزی میده. بعد یک درجه دار سیبیلو گفت بلبل زبونی دیگه بسته بریم مرکز اونجا معلوم میشه!!!خلاصه من که زورم به اونها نمی رسید من را از میان نگاه های افراد دیگر که در بین راه تا رسیدن به ماشین پلیس بودند، به زور بردنم شرم و حیا به من اجازه نمی داد که فریاد بکشم و از مردم کمک بخواهم . می ترسیدم که کسی من را در آن میان بشناسد و فکر بدی بکند.بعد ازمدتی که در ماشین بودم به مرکز امر به معروف رسیدیم و من راانداختن توی یه اطاق و شماره منزل و آدرس گرفتند و گفتند که به اونها زنگ می زنیم و تو باید تعهد بدی!!! من گفتم آخه چه تعهدی مگه من چه جرمی مرتکب شدم ؟ وقتی افتادم توی بازداشتگاه یه سرباز پر رو با نیش خند مسخره ای به من گفت معلومه بار اولته نگران نباش من درست می کنم زود تر بری. برای من عجیب بود که چطور زور یک سرباز می تونه بیش تر از فرمانده خودش باشه !!! یعنی امکانش هست ؟ خلاصه من هرچه گریه و زاری کردم فایده ای نکرد و به من گفتند از نهار هم خبری نیست. در طول چند ساعتی که در اونجا بودم چندین دفعه سربازها می آمدند و از پشت در بازداشتگاه حرفهای آنچنانی به من می زدند تا من را تحریک بکنند. می دانم که شاید باور نکنید و تکرار این موضوع همیشه مثل یک کابوس من را رنج می دهد. ولی کاری که نباید می شد ؛ شد و یک درجه دار در اطاقم را باز کرد و دو سرباز دیگر جلو آمدند و گفتند اگه سر و صدا کنی بیهوشت می کنیم و کار تو را یکسره می کنیم ولی اگه ساکت باشی زود زود آزادت می کنیم. خلاصه در آن اطاق تاریک بازداشتگاه با چسب محکمی دهانم را بستند و به زور به من تجاوز کردند و بعد به من گفتند حالا می تونی بری ولی این را بدان اگر بخواهی حرف بزنی از این بد تر بلا سرت درمیاریم .وقتی از اونجا آزاد شدم ساعت حدود 11 شب بود بدون اینکه چیزی را امضاء کنم آزاد شدم .وقتی بیرون آمدم از هر چی رنگ نظامی و سبز و ماشین پلیس بود متنقر شدم و دائم پیش خودم می گفتم که چند تار موی من که بیرون بود جرم بود یا عمل این خدا نشناس ها.نمی دانستم چه دروغی برای خانواده چشم انتظار خود سر هم کنم تا از این دغدغه هم نجات پیدا کنم. از آن واقعه تا الان از خواب و خوراک افتاده ام و یک نوع حس انتقام جویی در من شدت می گیرد ولی هیچ کاری نمی توانم بکنم. گاه که به یاد می آورم بدنم شروع به لرزیدن می کند و مغزم سوت می کشد و بغض گلویم را می گیرد .شرم و حیا به من اجازه نمی دهد که به کسی بگویم که به من چه گذشت. من این موضوع را حتی به خانواده خودم نگفتم. واقعا نمی دانم چه کار کنم اگر جایی مطرح کنم آبروی من میرود و هیچ مدرکی هم ندارم. و اگر هم ساکت بنشینم اعصابم و وجدانم به من این اجازه را نمی دهد. در خیال خودم بارها و بارها وارد آنجا می شوم و همه آنها را می کشم و آنجا را به آتش می کشم . بعضی شب ها خواب می بینم که همان وضعیت برایم اتفاق می افتد و من فریاد می کشم اما هیچ کس به کمکم نمی آید. این خدا نشناسها حتی نام من را هم در آنجا ثبت نکردند و صورت جلسه نکردند. فکر می کنم این روند قانونی برای آنهایی باشد که سرسختانه مقاومت می کنند و هم حبس و بازداشتگاه و غذا نخوردن را تحمل می کنند و هم اینکه حاضر به رشوه دادن نیستند. ولی من که یک دانشجو و بدون پناه و تنها بودم و به جز کرایه ماشین و چند هزار تومان پول برای خرید کتب دانشگاهی و یک گوشی موبایل ارزان قیمت چیزی با خود همراه نداشتم. کاری از من ساخته نبود. کاش در ایران زاده نشده بودم.

مرگ مشکوک یک دانش آموز دختر در تهران

سایت حکومتی البرز: وزير آموزش و پرورش دستور ويژه براي بررسي علت مرگ مشکوک يک دانش آموز در يکي از مدارس شهر تهران را صادر کرد . مديرکل دفتر حقوقي و قضايي وزارت آموزش و پرورش گفت اين دانش آموز که خديجه قاسمي نام دارد دانش آموز سال دوم مدرسه ابتدايي باقرالعلوم منطقه 19 تهران بود که هفته گذشته در اثر ضرباتي که معلم با کتاب در کلاس به سر او وارد مي کند، وضع جسماني وي وخيم مي شود و پس از مراجعه به خانه ، اولياي اين دانش آموز ، وي را به بيمارستان حضرت رسول (ص) منتقل مي کنند. وي تصريح کرد : بر اساس پيگيري هاي دفتر حقوقي و قضايي وزارت آموزش و پرورش مشخص شد اين دانش آموز پس از چهار روز بستري در اين بيمارستان فوت کرده است. وي گفت: پزشکي قانوني علت فوت اين دانش آموز را ضربه به سر،‌ خونريزي مغزي و مرگ مغزي اعلام کرده است. واسعي يادآور شد: اولياي دانش آموز با کسب اطلاعاتي که همکلاسي هاي فرزندشان در مراسم ترحيم به آنان داده بودند از اين موضوع آگاه مي شوند و از اين معلم به دفتر رسيدگي به شکايات اموزش و پرورش شکايت مي کنند . مدير کل دفتر حقوقي و قضايي وزارت آموزش و پرورش خاطر نشان کرد: هم اکنون اين معلم از تدريس محروم شده است و به دستور پليس در بازداشت بسر مي برد.

Karachi, Feb 16 Three suspected Al Qaeda-linked suicide bombers, who were planning attacks in the city, were arrested here Friday while six of their accomplices managed to escape after a shootout with police. Police sources said that when a police party raided the hideout of the accused in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, the suicide bombers opened fire, which was returned by the police, Online news agency said.After an exchange of firing, police managed to apprehend the suspected suicide attackers, identified as Ferhan, Shahid and Ghani, and recovered three hand grenades, two explosive-laden jackets used in suicide attacks, two Kalashnikovs and two pistols from their possession. During interrogation, the accused revealed they had planned to conduct suicide attacks on foreign delegates of the IDEAS 2006, which was averted due to strict security measures, police sources added. According to police, the accused belong to Al Qaeda offshoot Qari Zafar group, headed by Qari Zafar, and had carried out a number of attacks in the country, including in Waziristan. Police said they were probing militants' links to the recent series of suicide attacks in capital Islamabad and in the North-West Frontier Province.
