Kurdish rebel group kills policeman in north-western Iran

Tehran - Elements of an Iranian Kurdish rebel group killed a police officer in the province of Kurdistan in north-western Iran, ISNA news agency reported Sunday. ISNA said that members of the Party for Freedom and Life in Kurdistan (PJAK), which is linked to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), has claimed responsibility for Friday's killing of an Iranian police officer and wounding another. The PJAK sabotage activities in Iran have prompted Iranian troops to infiltrate northern Iraqi soil to attack the group's bases. The incidents also triggered a temporary closure of the borders sparking a political crisis.
