Here is what US Military will find in Iran

There’s been a lot of discussion of a possible war with Iran on the left-blogosphere, but hardly any discussion about what a such a war would involve or look like. Here’s a quick overview of Iran’s military capability by military analyst William Kay.
Keep in mind that this article was written in 2005, so it does not cover such recent developments as Iran’s acquisition of the Tor-M1, the SA-19 Grisom and possibly the S-300 , all of which are top notch Russian air-defense technology. Additionally, it does not cover Iran’s purchase of the SS-N-22 “Sunburn”/“Onyx” anti-ship missile, which is regarded by some as the most advanced anti-ship missile in the world, which could be capable of scoring hits on U.S. warships. There are also unconfirmed reports of sales of modern Russian fighters to supplement Iran’s air force .Apparently there’s a saying in military circles: “Amateurs talk strategy, professionals talk logistics!” By William KayRepublished from Republic of East Vancouver
A U.S. conflict with Iran would be far different from what American forces found on their rout of Iraqi forces in March 2003. Unlike Iraq, Iran is ready.

The Islamic Republic of idiots military industrial complex

There are 80 million Iranians. The nation’s high birth rate has made it one of the youngest country’s in the world. Two-thirds of Iran’s population know no other government than the absolutist clerical regime which seized power from the Western-backed Shah in 1978. Whereas there have been tentative steps towards liberalism since, a conservative faction of the theocracy, led by spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, retains huge power, including the final say on defence and foreign policy. Iran has no diplomatic relations with US. In Iran, 70% of industry is state-owned. All strategic heavy industries, particularly armaments, are state-owned. The petroleum and gas industries were nationalized in 1979. Banking is state-owned. Radio and TV broadcasting are a state monopoly and satellite dishes are banned. State-owned Iran Air carries three quarters of all Iranian air passengers. The Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance controls all 1,500 libraries. There were about 500 newspapers a few years ago but the government has closed scores recently. The gross domestic product, fuelled by petroleum and natural gas exports, has been growing at about 5% per year for the last fifteen years. The manufacturing sector is growing at 10% per year.
