How Iranian Leftists Protect Islamic Regime : Kambiz Basetvat - 9/16/2007
Iranian commentators in US media, with the impressive professorship credentials from prestigious universities or other institutions, are engaged in providing considerable misinformation to the American public concerning the course of action that US should take for overthrowing the Islamic regime in Iran. After twenty seven years dealing with Islamic regime, the US government and the united stats people have no doubt in hostility they are facing from Hezb Allah regime. The political ambitions of Islamo-Fascist head quartered in Iran, although, concentrated in the Middle East for the time being, but they are global. The Islamo-Fascist is challenging the US vision of the world the same way fascism and communism had done in the twentieth century. There is no doubt that the US sensed the growing danger of Islamo-Fascist especially after 9/11. By now the US government knows there is no way around it other than destruction of the Islamic regime in Iran by any means. The US in her scheme for overthrowing the Islamic regime sees the Iranian people as a natural ally. The Islamic regime created an opposition with the size of overwhelming majority of Iranians, because Islamic Republic has imposed the Middle age Islamic laws on the Iranians. The Iranian people hate to be marked at as potential Islamo-terrorist. Political persecution, social confinement, and economic hardship imposed by Islamic regime chased out millions of Iranian from Iran. There is no credible reason not to assume Iranian’s alliance with the US for the purpose of destroying the Islamic regime.
Iranian leftist professors employed by prestigious universities and institutions argue otherwise. They argue the US government military action against Islamic regime in Iran will not enjoy support of Iranian people, and for the nationalistic reasons galvanize Iranians’ support for the Islamic Republic. They go further and claim any US involvement with the opposition groups discredit those groups in the eyes of Iranian people. Also, they point out to the US government’s earmarked money for the Islamic regime’s opposition groups as a bad idea. One can ask why involvement of the US in Iranians’ struggle for freedom from dictatorship of Islamic Republic benefits the Islamic regime and helps its longevity. What is wrong with the helping hand of the US which accepted millions of Iranians refuges from Islamic Republic and gave them the opportunity to flourish financially and professionally? What evil intentions associate to the involvement of the US for Iranian freedom? More questions could be imposed to these professors, going wild in the US media unchallenged, opposing the elimination of Islamic Regime danger for the Middle East and the world, postponing indefinitely Iranians’ people freedom from dictatorship of Fascist Islamic regime.
To understand the roots of the professors’ argument, we need to review modern Iranian history. In the first quarter of the twenty century, Iran had struggled to free itself from political and financial yoke of Russia and Great Britain, which starched from nineteenth century. First Pahlavy, the Shah, followed the common political wisdom in Iran in World War II and had chosen neutrality while Germany had been industrializing Iran. Iran had drowned to the war after first being occupied by Great Britain and Soviet Union and later by the US. After the invasion, Iran went through a chaotic period which during this time the Shah relied heavily on the protection of the US to fend of Soviets domination of Iran. Oil nationalization saga which end up with a coup data against Prime Minister Mosaddagh with the involvement of the US and Great Britain became the rallying point for US haters such as communist, Islamo-Fascist, and Mosaddaghist who had dominated Iranian political environment. The US support for the Shah for the rest of his reign deepened this animosity among his known enemies. These enemies of the Shah were the communist, elements of so called national front and later Khomeinist. These groups hatred of the Shah, the US and United Kingdom were the unifying force for the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Our leftist professors are reliving the Shah’s era and assuming the same false political mentality is popular among Iranians today. Iranians were and are modernized more than any nation in the Middle East and strive for western way of life. For years Iranians suffered form the policies of communist, Mosaddaghist, and Khomeinist vision of the Iran and the hatred of west. These political groups build up their political courier based on hatred of foreigners and the US. These professors, who see nothing wrong in living, working, and raising their families in the US, support those who promote American’s hatred, and attack America’s helping hand for Iranians’ freedom. The most important motive for taking any political position is the truth. These professors have the opportunity to inform Iranians of the US noble intentions for the people if Iran, such as democracy, freedom of press, economical opportunity and all those privileges that keeps these professors and millions of immigrants in the US. But the professors chose to be in favor of Islamic regime’s survival policy and assume that Iranian people are naive enough to support Hezb Allah in a war with the US for the democracy and freedom for Iran.
In a great article by Mr. Hassan Daioeslam titled “Pro-Ayatollah Disinformation and Manipulation Campaign by Washington Think Tankers” on the “Global Politician” internet site; he explains how masterfully a few pro Hezb Allah people manipulated the US media in favor of Islamic regime. It is true that Iranian people was fooled by their political leadership to support Khomeinist revolution; but it is hard to believe that the Iranian people could be fooled again to protect Islamic regime by the political analysis of a group of US naturalized Iranians hypocrite and hard core US haters.
