NATO soldiers killed, wounded in roadside bomb in Afghanistan : By DPA
Apr 8, 2007, 7:19 GMT
Kabul - One NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) soldier was killed and another wounded in a roadside bomb blast in Afghanistan on Sunday, the military said.
ISAF spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Maria Carl said the incident took place in southern region but declined to locate the exact location or identify the nationality of the victims. He also said militants opened fire on Afghan nationals working for NATO forces in eastern Khost province on Thursday, killing two and wounding another two. The 'employees were driving from their village on their way to work when they noticed a white Toyota Corolla with 3 people inside ahead of them on the road. As they passed the vehicle, masked gunmen opened fire on their car,' an ISAF statement said. One of the employees was pronounced dead at the scene while the other three were taken to Khost City Hospital where one of them died from his injuries, the statement said.
Attacks by Taliban-led militants are on the rise as the weather gets warmer after a reduction of violence during the Afghan winter.
